On the night of Monday, August 31, Russian occupiers struck the warehouses of two major retail chains in the Kyiv region.
A Varus warehouse in the region was attacked again. The attack caused significant damage, resulting in a large number of goods being damaged or destroyed. The company warns of possible delivery delays and temporary shortages of certain products in stores due to the incident. However, as Varus emphasizes, all employees are safe, and that is the most important thing. Efforts to restore deliveries and restock stores with necessary goods are already in full swing. All stores in the chain continue to operate as usual. The company also expressed its regret to its partners whose goods were damaged at nearby warehouses.
In addition, warehouses belonging to another chain, ATB, in the village of Pohreby in the Brovary District were attacked. This was reported by the Ukrainian Retailers Association. Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, reported that four people were injured as a result of the morning attack.
Reports indicate that the enemy continues to attack civilian facilities. In the Brovary district, a warehouse and a retail outlet were damaged, while in the Boryspil district, three warehouses and an apartment building were damaged. Russia is striking civilian infrastructure, which is affecting the civilian population. Efforts are underway to address the consequences of the attacks.
Mykhailo Nepran, first vice president of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, asserts that there is no food shortage in the country. All rumors of shortages or an alleged “famine” are merely the result of hostile propaganda and the actions of local figures seeking to gain popularity. Minister of Agrarian Policy Taras Vysotsky previously stated that Ukraine’s production capacity is fully capable of meeting domestic demand for staple foods. However, there may be issues with product variety.
Helpful information: If you urgently need certain items, we recommend regularly checking for updates on retail chains’ websites and following the news. This will help you navigate the situation more quickly in case the product lineup changes or new shipments arrive.
