The National Bank of Ukraine plans to issue a unique set of commemorative coins titled “Inhabitants of the Deep Sea,” dedicated to rare species of marine fauna. This was announced by the regulator’s press office.
The “Inhabitants of the Deep Sea” set includes two coins, each with a face value of 5 hryvnias. The first is titled “Sea of Azov: Sea Mole,” and the second is titled “Black Sea: Black Sea Scallop.”
The reverse sides of the coins feature corresponding marine creatures, while the obverse sides depict stylized outlines of the Azov and Black Seas, rendered with raised horizontal lines resembling waves.
This set is limited to a run of 50,000 copies in souvenir packaging. Sales will begin on September 29, 2026, in the National Bank of Ukraine’s online numismatic store, and the set will also be available for purchase from participating banks.
On September 17, it was announced that the National Bank of Ukraine had issued a commemorative coin in honor of the famous Ukrainian song “Chervona Ruta” and its composer, Volodymyr Ivasyuk. The coin is made of silver.
Also, to mark the 30th anniversary of the hryvnia, which was celebrated on September 2, the National Bank put a silver coin into circulation in honor of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s monetary reform. The 1-hryvnia coin is made of 925-fine silver, has a net weight of 31.1 g, and is decorated with localized gold plating.
It is important to note that such initiatives help preserve cultural heritage and draw attention to significant events and figures in Ukrainian history. More detailed information can be found on the website АнтиКредит.
