Due to ongoing air raid alerts, Ukrposhta is changing the operating hours of its branches in cities. Branches will now prioritize the receipt and delivery of packages. The company’s CEO, Ihor Smilianskyi, announced this on Facebook.
Smilyansky emphasized that the acceptance of packages will now be prioritized and handled outside the regular queue. Next in importance will be the process of issuing packages, which will also take place outside the regular queue.
Starting today, more than 90% of Ukrposhta’s urban branches with more than one service window have begun operating under new guidelines. These changes are due to the fact that, because of ongoing alerts, branch operating hours may be reduced. The decision was made to ensure that packages arrive at sorting centers on time.
The CEO explained that while all customers are important, financial services—such as pensions and payments—are provided immediately. Even if customers arrive after the alarm goes off, they receive service on the same day, as the servers are under reliable protection. This cannot be guaranteed if there are delays in shipping or delivering packages.
There are also plans to launch self-service stations and increase the number of postal kiosks.
In June, it was reported that Ukrposhta had signed an agreement with the Etsy marketplace, where more than 2 million Ukrainian products are sold. In May, the company introduced special express pickup lockers at its branches, allowing customers to pick up packages without waiting in line. Some shipments will automatically be switched to this new pickup format.
This change in Ukrposhta’s operating structure helps improve efficiency and convenience for customers amid current instability. The goal of implementing new technologies and reallocating priorities at branches is to improve customer service.
